Samuel Adams Triple Bock (3.5/10)
Derek 3.5 I was super excited to try this beer. It's in a cool bottle, it's 18% alcohol, and it's called a triple bock! Sounds awesome to me. When we tried it we split the 8oz bottle between 2 people. It poured like motor oil with 0 carbonation or lace. When swirled around the glass it looked like soy sauce, leaving a brown residue with lots of small, dark chunks (like a fruit juice or something). The taste was rather odd, it reminded me more of a wine/port/sherry than a beer. It was sort of sweet and tasted similar to prune juice, wtf? When I bought the bottle I was expecting to rate it atleast an 8. On the first sip it immediately went down to 6, but then when I had to dump out the last ounce of my 4 oz serving, I decided it may be a 3 or 4. Despite it's 18% alcohol, this is not a beer to get drunk on. While drinking it I was thinking of ways to make it more enjoyable. The only way I can recommend this beer is: drink it as if it's a fine scotch. -split 1 8oz bottle between 3-4 people, 2 ounces is a very generous serving. -SIP this beer over a long period of time. -Haver a cigar with this beer. I think this would compliment the taste well. Immediately afterwards grab yourself a light domestic beer and continue your night.

4 This is was a concoction like I'd never seen before. The taste was at first sort of rude, like whiskey, but then a mellow after taste that was ok. As it breathed in the open air it did seem to take on a bitter cover that made me feel like I wasn't really sure I wanted to drink any more.

The smell and taste combination kept my attention and I finished the drink, with an all new experience with yet another beer. It was sweet with a burnt tinge of oak and tang bitter.

I would like to see the recipe as I can't envision the hop or malt. It's more like port or brandy and should be consumed the same way.

Definately would be considered an aquired taste and something a person wouldl have to work at. I thought beer and got something else. Weird!
